Beta Build 60

A new patch has been released. A character wipe has been performed.

Updates and fixes in this patch includes:
  • Party fixes: All previous party issues have been resolved
  • Mode Change crashes have been resolved
  • Mouse and GUI offset on some mode changes have been fixed
  • Load crashes have been resolved
  • Switching mode between wide-screen and 4:3 now corrects the perspective
  • The famous 'Use' bug has been fixed
  • The 'entering game mode while looting' bug has been fixed
  • Jewel smithing has been enabled
  • Guard towers REALLY don't attack any mobs now.
  • Item tool tip has been greatly enhanced. You will see all stats now
  • Notification if you are trying to skin a grave that has already been skinned
  • Journal window should work without flickering on all Operating Systems now
  • More bandwidth reduction to client has been enabled (Note 1)
  • Gamma correction now works above 1.0 in full screen
  • Choosing scenery and/or character shadows now works like it should
  • Some optimizations on the client (Remember: still debug mode)
  • Bug with having a player in your Clan KOS list and then inviting him into the clan has been fixed
  • Global Chat will show up in a separate tab now (so you don't have to write /say_global). Remember this will be disabled, of course, at a later stage.
  • Misc. other Clan fixes
  • All Magic schools now display their level in the skill window
  • All spells now display their level in the spells window
  • Updates to drink/eat skills to disallow stacking exploit
  • All developer exploits removed (shift+F10) (Note 2)
  • Crouching will now put you physically crouched, so swings/missiles might go over your head
  • More auto stacking enabled
  • New Quests enabled
  • Quests bug fixes
  • All map markers for quests should be in the correct place now
  • Transaction between vendor and player bug has been fixed
  • Misc. GUI bugs have been fixed
  • Enabled an icon to show what weapon you have attached and whether or not you have it unsheathed (To enable this, you have to have your paper doll window open. This will be fixed soon.)
  • Lesser Magic skill gain has been tweaked.
  • Logout exploit lessened (If you log out instantly now, you character will stay in the game for approx 20 seconds, so others may kill you. This timer will be increased at a later stage)
  • More monsters have been enabled (Around 1000 monsters)
  • Some monsters have been updated
  • AI tweaks for several monsters
  • Monster loot has been tweaked
  • Dragon won't "twitch" while moving anymore
  • In case of client crash you don't have to wait 30 minutes to log in with same character anymore (Now it's ca. 5) (Note 3)
  • Login procedure has been bulletproofed. If you experience any problems with login, please let us know immediately.
  • Selecting a special melee skill (such as power attack) will after use pop you back to the normal skill.
  • The one clan city that was in the game has been removed and developer city building exploit has also been removed (Note 4)
  • Updates to the world
  • And many more behind the scenes updates

Notes
Regarding the patch notes:
  1. Bandwidth reduction: We have enabled more Server/Client bandwidth reduction (In preparation for massive battles). This has been QA'ed by us, but if you experience anything weird regarding player movement etc. please send a bug report.
  2. Developer Exploits: I can see from the logs that SEVERAL people discovered the developer debug (shift+f10) to get free stuff. It went many days from when it was discovered until I got ANY bug reports on this, and I have ONLY got it from 2 people. That is not good..If you find an exploit. Report it immediately.
  3. Login timer after crash: This will be reduced tremendously at release. The reason we need to have it at a reasonable amount now, is that we must be able to hook up debuggers to the live servers and not time out.
  4. Soon we will introduce the approx. 100 Clan Cities and Clan Hamlets that are in the game, so you can help us test full blown city management and clan conquest.

At some points in the testing I will give you resources to perform the testing needed, so you don't have to gather everything needed for it.

An epic city in Darkfall will not be built in 1 day normally.

Some of the known issues and general information
  • Shadow artifacts(lines in the shadows) on some ATI cards are still being worked on.
  • Gamma correction does not work in windowed mode
  • Storing an item in the bank or in a clan vault might make it lose it's attributes (such as maker name and all enchanted attributes.)
  • The service tab on the vendors will have the interface completely reworked. This will happen in one of the following patches.
  • Enchanting catalysts will be found on various places around the world. This will also be marked on the item.
  • Some of the areas on the live server are not completely up to date. So you might find some areas that look half-built.
  • Monster density in Mirdain and Alfar area are currently the lowest.
  • Using ctrl+k in the chatbox and choosing color for you chat will not bring focus back to the chatbox (ctrl+b to toggle bold and ctrl+i to toggle italics will not change focus. Same for ctrl+r to reset defaults).
  • Remember you can add persistent annotations to your map:
    • /annotation_add "text" (N.B. Your annotations will be wiped when we do a character wipe)
    • /annotation_list
    • /annotation_remove ID <-use list to get id

  • Set way points for your party by using /party_set_waypoint and /party_remove_waypoint (Verify that it shows up on your world map)
  • Vendor markers does not show up immediately when you spawn in an area.
  • There is a way to make your character stay in swimming position when entering land.
  • No-stamina-loss sprint bug has not been fixed yet.

Thank you for all your bug reports. It helps us tremendously in fixing bugs and issues with Darkfall. Keep those bug reports flowing, but make sure you ALSO report exploits...
